Great Boot!
I was waiting until I'd gotten some miles on these boots to write a review. After trekking though 20 inches of snow in them I think I'm ready.
First of all the bad: My only complaint is the lacing which isn't really a speed lace system, there are two distinct groups of laces, those on the foot and those on the leg and sometimes it is a bit hard to lace them quickly and properly. You often have to pull the foot laces tight, try to hold them in place with one hand and pull the upper laces as fast as you can before they slip back down.
Other than that I have nothing bad to say about these boots, they are great. I've previously owned several pairs of Bates Boots, and my usual size fit me perfectly. Once they were broken in they were very comfortable to walk and run in. It's not even a problem driving a stick shift in them, they don't feel big and clunky at all.
They have great grip and traction in almost all terrains and settings including ice and snow, and are great at keeping your feet warm or cool depending on the situation. They are also very waterproof and keep your feet dry when completely immersed in ice, which was very impressive.
Perhaps the best aspect of this boot is that while it is Sage Green, it is not an "Air Force Boot" While some other manufacturers make their Sage Green boots to different standards than their desert or black boots, the Sage Green M-8 Tactical boot is the same as the Desert Tan M-8, which is great if you are someone who was not looking for a desert boot, but you still get all of the same great features, especially the non-slip soles which are lacking on a lot of other manufacturer's boots.
