A classic leather sole makes this high gloss oxford a best in class selection.
The upper and insole are chain stitched to a leather strip (the welt) which is then stitched to the outsole.

I have used these shoes for over 3 years as a ceremonial guardsmen. I have done over 160 ceremonies wearing these and they HAVE NOT failed me yet. They remained shiny and the leather soles have not blown out yet. OUTSTANDING!!!

Shoes lasted me through about 8 months of daily wear, mostly clasroom activity, before the soles started to detach. High gloss upper is also very easily scuffed and has started to crack. Durability could definitely stand some improvement.

Bates Lite
I am a traditional National Guard officer who purchased a pair of Bates Lite low quarters about 7 years ago. As a traditional M-day officer, I wear these shoes maybe 15 days a year. I was also mobilized for 3 of the last 5 years and did not have these shoes on once during that time. The bottoms of these shoes fell completely apart on a recent trip to Washington DC leaving me in a precarious situation at the Pentagon. Although these shoes were very comfortable, I am not impressed with their durability. note: my previous govt issued low quarters lasted the prior 24 years without fail.
We are very sorry to hear about this and want to make it right with you. Someone will contact you soon to see how we can help. Thank you for sharing your review.
