Quality deterioration

I was introduced to these boots during my military service days and have been purchasing them since 2003. I remember they used to last 2 years. However, with the last three pairs of boots, I noticed that the quality has deteriorated. I have had to deal with the following issues: 1) For one pair, the right boot felt tighter than the left. 2) For a different pair, the sole came unglued within a couple of months. 3) For the current pair, with only 5 months of wearing them, 8 hours a day, indoors facility, the lining of the left boot (by the heel) disintegrated. The cardboard behind the lining started falling apart which then ripped my skin right off. I then put duct tape to hold the cardboard back (thank you, duct tape). It really upsets me to have to complain about this company as I have bought their product for the last 13 years. However, due to the substandard product and the skin injury it caused me, I will be taking my money elsewhere. I hope Bates fixes their quality issues…otherwise more customers will leave.
