My First time with the white uniform oxfords To anyone interested. I had a chance to buy a pair of these white uniform leather shoes. Comfortability was my most dersire quality since I was to be in a parade marching. Something I had not done since I left the Military in 1995. I had to stand about 2 hours waiting for the parade to start. Nvere did my feet sweat, never did I feel uncomfortable wearing the shoe. Once the parade started we walked one hour and 45 minutes. They remained like new, the soles held the abuse of me, since I had gained 40 pounds since I left the military. They still look good with no damage. I liked the shoe. If I do another parade I will let you know how they fare. Irving, From Orlando, FL

Had 2 pairs Crumble on me in a single retirement ceremony I have owned several pairs of Bates Lites Oxfords, and like the others who reviewed them, this product is awful. I had brought two with me to a retirement as I know these things crumble within a couple of years, even if you only wear them a couple of times a year like I do. Anyhow, it was embarrassing as I had two blow outs on the two pairs that I brought with me. I ended up being pushed to the back of the retirement ceremony because of this and out of view. It's shameful that Bates charge so much to our servicemen and women for these shoes but the product is very poor quality. It left a big white crumble on the clean deck of the ship that was prepared for the ceremony.

Since the dress styles are often stored for years between ceremonies, the uppers may age well but the rubber soles can dry out and become brittle. You can actually prevent this or extend the life of the shoes by rotating them in the wearing process. Even wearing them around the house on occasion will help keep the soles from breaking down. Your footwear may fall under our warranty. Please give us a call at 866.699.7374. We do sincerely apologize for any inconveniences you may have suffered.

Good looking and tough. Over ten years ago I bought these shoes to wear in the operating room. I have worn them every working day since. They give me excellent traction on a wet deck and are near indestructible. I am replacing them now because the leather is beginning to crack, however, they are still more than serviceable. These shoes are outstanding.

Worst Sole Ever Add me to the list of career suckers who has paid Bates hundreds of dollars for an inferior product that routinely and almost "on que" fall apart at the least opportune moments. Being aware of the issue, I actually bought a new pair to have on hand for when my nearly new pair would "explode" since I was going to go on an extended deployment and would need white uniform shoes. Sure enough, 30 minutes into a DV ceremony, I started to see the bread crumb signal that it was time to use the new pair. By the time I need them again, I'm sure this pair will probably do the same. I've watched this occur to dozens of individuals at ceremonies, parades, official functions and during daily use. Black and Brown oxfords do the same, but I wised up and starting buying a different brand. Unfortunately, there aren't any options for the whites.

We do sincerely apologize for any inconveniences you may have suffered. Age and minimal use can affect the breakdown of rubber and polyurethane soles. It is a natural breakdown process called hydrolysis and something that the industry is working to address. Your footwear may fall under our warranty. Please give us a call at 866.699.7374. Thank you.

Fell apart during a retirement ceremony Hard to say "embarrassing" since the word doesn't quite cover it. These "shoes" fell apart during a retirement ceremony for one of the most distinguished professors in the history of his field and left me leaving bread-crumb trails around the hall until I was forced to leave. This is actually the 3rd pair that have done this to me so I don't know why I was surprised. HORRENDOUS product that literally PAINS me to buy every time, because I know I'm just wasting my money.

Compounds in the rubber can breakdown with age and minimal use, but we do stand behind our products and would be happy to do all we can to help. Please call the team at 866.699.7374 or email us at customerservice@batesfootwear.com. Thank you.
