The sales person at Bates recommended these lighter boots over the ones insulated ones I purchased at a local store previously. It was a great recommendation! These have all the features of my last pair but much more comfortable in the Florida weather. I will purchase them again.

This is my third pair i have purchased and I am still very satified withthe quality and comfort. I am on my feet 8-10 hours a day and these boots have never left me sore.

I bought these boots for a recruit class after being issued Bates sidezip with ICS on my old department. These boots didn't take very long to break in and were very comfortable from the second I put them on. They were slightly bigger than my normal size but that usually happens with safety toe boots. Hopefully they hold up as well as my last pair of Bates. I'll try to post another review after 20 weeks of recruit school.

Husband orders this boot every year, and wears them daily. He's a wire tech for AT&T, and is in/out of houses, up/down ladders, and climbs the telephone poles. The heel is designed to prevent slipping on the ladders. The boot is tall enough to provide great ankle support, and the combo leather/mesh construction is lightweight, flexible, breathable, and protective of toe and heel area. Side zip ensures he can fully open boot at night to release any moisture. Exterior is highly durable, and the fit is ample for wearing heavy work socks. Great arch support.

Besides being somewhat comfortable these boots are very poor quality. I have had two pair of these boots and they both started falling apart within 6 months. The souls just are not attached securely enough. I had to keep super gluing them just so I could get a years use out of them. I will not purchase these again.

In lest than four mouths the heel is separating from the upper part, the tongues shifts to one side, the sole is separating at the toes. Great looking shoe, but they don't last long enough, for work everyday use.

I have had these boot for 10 months in which I wore them less than 20 times totaling less than 100 hours. They have never been exposed to wet conditions but do live in the trunk of my car in So. Cal. As you can see by the photo, the sole has debonded from the toe back. Regardless of construction, I have never had a shoe or boot that did this until it was well used. Based on this, and similar reviews, from here on, I will avoid boots described as having cement construction as well as those with the name Bates.

These boots aren't made for walking - by , Oct 15, 2013

Received a pair from a client as a gift, they're not even three months old and most of that time in my closet. Wore them 4 times at most, usually wore my old pair of Bates boots in the woods. In this instance I left the old ones home. To make a long story short: While cooking breakfast for my client the toe of one boot came completly loose and the sole on the other came loose. This was on the first day of a three day outing, walked around in the "Smokey mts." In tennis shoes. I like the fit and comfort of Bates boots and wore them for some time, but these are my LAST PAIR! I'm dissatisfied and disappointed with the sloppy quality of this product.

Not what I expected - by , Sep 22, 2013

I'm a female that wears a women's size 8 and wanted to buy these boots for work. The online chat specialist recomended a size 6.5 in mens for these boots since they don't come in women's. When the 6.5 arrive it was way too large on my foot so I went to exchange them but the exchange shipping label wasn't packaged with my boots! I was very frustrated but after talking with customer service they e-mailed me a new one but I then had to find a way to print it myself when it was supposed to come with the boots. I went down another half size to a men's size 6, and more than 2 weeks later when they arrived they were still a little big, but I accepted them for what they were because I didn't want the hassle of exchanging them again! Here the problem, although semi comfy they are small in the ankle but big in the foot and when I lace them up tight enough to hold my foot still they have hard spots the dig into your ankle, so I wear them loose and my the end of my day my feet are very tired. I think these boots would be much better if they simply came in women's sizes... But they aren't right for me in mens.

Thank you for sharing this review. Men's styles are going to be slightly wider than women's. We appreciate the recommendation of this being available in a women's style and are happy to pass that request along to our Product and Development team.
