Garbage My first pair of these shoes lasted 15 years. My second pair lasted two before the soles disintegrated after one use. Obviously you have changed something because there are many other reviews saying the same thing. I find it hard to believe you can't make a shoe sole that doesn't fall apart. I have other shoes with white soles that last years. Why do you insist on using this crap foam material that just disintegrates? Can't you make these shoes with a hard sole that will last?

OVERPRICED JUNK I am a Merchant Marine Officer and authorized NEX patron. I seldom wore my Bates white uniform shoes, meticulously cleaned them and stored them wrapped in the original paper and box. Had an assignment which required my whites and when I pulled the shoes out the uppers were in new condition but the heels and soles disintegrated. When I inquired to Bates I was told that if I don't wear them this is what happens. What kind of expensive shoe disintegrates from not wearing

We understand your frustration, however, the footwear is made to be worn and when rubber, and polyurethane, is stored for a lengthy period of time, it will break down. It is a natural process called hydrolysis and something that the industry is working to address. Your footwear may fall under our warranty. Please give us a call at 866.699.7374. We do sincerely apologize for any inconveniences you may have suffered.

Heels Disintegrated! While wearing these shoes for a ceremony, the heels absolutely disintegrated. I had worn them 3 or 4 times prior to this ceremony, so general wear and tear should not have been a concern. I have never had a pair of uniform shoes fall apart as embarrassingly as these did. Thankfully, I was able to minimize my walking during the ceremony after I realized what was happening to my shoes. Regardless of my efforts, I left a tell-tale trail of little white crumbs as I hurried to the head to change out of my whites and into my khakis at the completion of the ceremony. I brought them to a shoe repair shop and the proprietor laughed at me when I asked if they were repairable with a new sole. These are overpriced to begin with, but these would be garbage at any price. Fix your material selection and quality control.

My First time with the white uniform oxfords To anyone interested. I had a chance to buy a pair of these white uniform leather shoes. Comfortability was my most dersire quality since I was to be in a parade marching. Something I had not done since I left the Military in 1995. I had to stand about 2 hours waiting for the parade to start. Nvere did my feet sweat, never did I feel uncomfortable wearing the shoe. Once the parade started we walked one hour and 45 minutes. They remained like new, the soles held the abuse of me, since I had gained 40 pounds since I left the military. They still look good with no damage. I liked the shoe. If I do another parade I will let you know how they fare. Irving, From Orlando, FL

Had 2 pairs Crumble on me in a single retirement ceremony I have owned several pairs of Bates Lites Oxfords, and like the others who reviewed them, this product is awful. I had brought two with me to a retirement as I know these things crumble within a couple of years, even if you only wear them a couple of times a year like I do. Anyhow, it was embarrassing as I had two blow outs on the two pairs that I brought with me. I ended up being pushed to the back of the retirement ceremony because of this and out of view. It's shameful that Bates charge so much to our servicemen and women for these shoes but the product is very poor quality. It left a big white crumble on the clean deck of the ship that was prepared for the ceremony.

Since the dress styles are often stored for years between ceremonies, the uppers may age well but the rubber soles can dry out and become brittle. You can actually prevent this or extend the life of the shoes by rotating them in the wearing process. Even wearing them around the house on occasion will help keep the soles from breaking down. Your footwear may fall under our warranty. Please give us a call at 866.699.7374. We do sincerely apologize for any inconveniences you may have suffered.
