I bought my first pair of Bates boots several years ago at a military surplus store. They were the most comfortable boots I'd ever worn. Since then, I pretty much wear them every day.
I recently bought the new versions and I could not be more disappointed. They do not breathe at all. The fit isn't nearly as comfortable as the older style.
For supposed hot weather footwear, my feet are constantly bathed in sweat. These boots do not breathe at all. The new waterproof features adds a wad of fabric that detracts from comfort.
The boots continue to "squeak" even after several months. These new boots generally sit in my closet. Too late to send them back. Very disappointed in the new styling, features and construction.
I still wear the old boots even though they are beat up.

My only complaint originally was that there wasn't a "pull tab" on the back to help get the boot on but then I remembered I hated how my pant leg would always get caught on those things. I will be ordering another pair when necessary.

I have been wearing military boots for the past 26 years. These must be the lowest quality boots ever made. I was in the Army for 26 years. Most of my Army boots lasted at least one year. These boots designed for Marines are not durable. I have been wearing for 1week and already have gouges is the toes. I couldn’t believe it. Really disappointed.

I’ve had the boota for a little while not and they’re great. Very comfortable and don’t make my feet hurt at the end of the day. However, they are ripping at the seams. It has only been a little while since receiving them, so I’d think twoce before ordering them.
