High Gloss DuraShocks® Oxford Simply put, these High Gloss DuraShocks® Oxford are the most comfortable and durable shoes I've have ever owned. I wore them for about 10+ years in the military and then in business. I just purchased my second pair a few weeks ago online and they were exactly what I was previously use to. No break in time is required with these shoes. Out of the box and on to my feet. Perfect. I would recommend these shoes to anyone. The only recommendation I would make it to ensure one orders the correct size and width. That does make all the difference.

Great shoes for work. I bought these shoes for work, as an alternative to boots, and they're perfect; comfortable fit, light weight, and look sharp. This is my 3rd pair, and the last pair lasted me 3 years.

Soles FALL APART I have purchased numerous Bates Oxford shoes. White, black, brown. In the past 2 years I have had 3 pairs fall apart while wearing them. Most recently it was a black shoe that I had bought just over a year ago and had worn less than 6 times. I am very disappointed. I keep reading that the shoe will fall apart if NOT WORN ENOUGH? Since most military members wear their dress uniforms a few times a year, I would have to say that this is unacceptable! I do not know of any other shoe that falls apart from lack of use. If Bates stands behind their product, then send me a pair of black oxford shoes that will NOT fall apart. Otherwise, I refuse to spend my money on shoes that will not last.

We understand your frustration. Footwear is made to be worn and when rubber, and polyurethane, is stored for a lengthy period of time, it will break down. It is a natural process called hydrolysis and something that the industry is working to address. Your footwear may fall under our warranty. Please give us a call at 866.699.7374. We do sincerely apologize for any inconveniences you may have suffered.

Horrible craftsmanship Horrible craftsmanship for a dress shoe targeted to military/law enforcement. I wore my dura-shocks a total of 3-5 times for no more than an hour each time (indoors/inspection shoes) and the heel on one of the shoes fell off. After looking at them further, the other heel is disbonding from the shoe and the soles on both are also cracking and starting to fall apart as well. I've always stored my dress shoes in shoe bags and have never had an issue until I switched to the dura-shock sole. Serves me right for trying out a new Bates product. Talking to various people in the unit, it's actually a fairly common occurrence. I'd call this a pretty negative trend. It seems like Bates has cornered the market on military dress shoes which seems to have allowed them to loosen their reigns on quality control. I expect a company that gets so much business from the men and women in our military to have a little more pride in the products that they put their name on.

Awful product, safety hazard, don't buy The entire sole disintegrated! I rarely wear these shoes and today I had an extremely important event to attend and the sole ripped off and fell apart between the car and the building. It was horribly embarrassing! I am taking this issue to clothing sales, because they should be aware of this faulty product.
