Comfortable for basic wear but not for extensive hard work or PT These boots are super lightweight and almost feel like you're wearing a pair of sneakers - especially if you put some work insoles in them. However (and that's a big however), they have this ridge inside that can dig into your skin and cause some serious damage to your feet. If you are going to train in these boots for an extended period of time, especially if your feet will be getting sweaty or wet, they will tear up the tops of your feet. Bates should fix the problem because otherwise these boots are great for running and for PT in general. I absolutely destroyed my first pair, and bought a second despite the ridge issue, just because they are so much easier to run in than a heavier boot.

Not standard issue Looking for a new pair of 2005 marine corps issued bates hot weather boots, these arnt them. While the durashock sole is comfortable I'm not sure what kind of longevity to expect but most likely not long. Found quite a few pin holes in the sole as another has pointed out. Not a fan of the harder toe, this boot does not have a soft toe. Ankle support material is cut different,

THEY DON'T LAST I love the comfort of the lightweight durashock but the outsoles begin to break after about two years; and that's with light use as I have other pairs I use for different occasions. My boots still look new and pristine but they can't be re-soled, so that pretty much renders them useless. This is my third or fourth pair and I'm getting ready to order another (unfortunately). So you figure that's at least $600-$800 down the drain. If Bates were to take their boots a little more serious, they'd consider this review. I've complained on a new pair outsoles breaking I used while in Afghanistan (on the FOB). I sent pictures in etc, yet they still have outsoles that break/crack... That was in 2011/12. It's 2017 and the outsoles are still the same. I have 3 years to retire so I'm hoping these are the last pair I ever have to buy... One could say well there's plenty of other boots to try. Unfortunately these are the best for my feet, yet the worst outsoles available. OTB's new jungle boots "dessert lights" were by far superior to Bates and the best for combat operations. Unfortunately they went out of business. I think New Balance took the contract then got away from the desert lights. I'd buy those in a heart beat.
